Phil and Linda Byler, missionaries in Sudan

Sixty years old, or sixty years young! Either way, we celebrated!

We were able to connect with our family with poor technological quality Skype calls which were filled with great emotional quality!!! My afternoon was filled with children here from AIC church compound, at my request! Since I could not celebrate with my kids, I did some substitution! 25 children climbed trees, drew pictures using colored pencils and markers, built structures of dominoes, played soccer (I retreated to “goalie” after taking a running fall), and ate such special treats as bread with honey, hard boiled eggs, bananas, and had kool aid (not the typical cake and ice cream). In the evening, Phil treated our household to a meal at a local restaurant (spicy fried chicken and very cold sodas) and then we retreated to our home for the chocolate cake (fixed by the ladies of the house) with our overnight guests.

I am so blessed!
