Phil and Linda Byler, missionaries in Sudan

Our faithful cat Patch had an assistant last night to keep our house free of rats, shakes, and other undesirable critters. Frequent household noises puzzled me, Phil, throughout the night and I even came out on patrol at 4AM to check what was going on but only a relaxed Patch greeted me. At daybreak however a mongoose scampered up our ring beam ledge and into the attic space. Maybe he is still there but the growling and scuffling noises subsided after full light. We spotted another mongoose in the yard at dawn and notice that the old almost filled pit latrine has lots of footprints at its opening. (The photo is borrowed as I was not quick enough with the camera)
