Phil and Linda Byler, missionaries in Sudan

En route home from Uganda to Sudan, our trip was interrupted by the blockade created by this truck which had gotten stuck in the mud the day before. Since both sides of the road were marshy, there was a contingent of “waiters” as the truck’s wares were being moved, the stuck tires were being dug out, and “cooks” were fixing a simple meal under the chassis of one of the delayed lorries.  With the gray skies ready to dump additional rain, we knew we needed to act quickly if we were to finish the trip before nightfall.  Phil and Scott scouted out the land, and with prayers brought our two heavily laden (lots of supplies for us and others–including solar batteries, water tank, groceries, three propane gas cylinders, and stuff) safely through the long soggy detour!  Praise to JESUS, we lost only a couple of hours in the process!
