SYIS stands for Sharpening Your Interpersonal Skills!  We have been sharpening our interpersonal skills this week at a workshop here in Kampala with about 24 other workers in various ministries.  We grew in our understanding of the Biblical principles, and then practiced skills like effective listening, mediating in conflict resolution, confronting others well, helping others to grieve well, managing stress, and building trust. All of these are difficult enough when we share a similar cultural background, but when we add in the elements of the African culture, it is even more challenging! The goal is that we will be healthier and assist others in our organizations to maintain lifestyles and communication skills so that we can continue to “run the race set out for us”!
