Grandpa will you push me on the swing – a BIG underdog push? Grandma will you read me a story? Ah these are delightful days with our daughter Melanie and family in the farmlands of NW Ohio.

Last week for three days these men and women representing leadership in AIM Central Region met for fellowship, inspiration, problem solving, and vision and strategy setting. It was Phil’s first time in leading these Advisory Meetings. By the grace of God, the meetings went well and as they came to a close on Friday PM, Phil and Linda headed for the airport to begin their journey to Ohio where the first of three grandchildren await.

We grappled with many questions like these–

What to do when you are overwhelmed with people in this relationship oriented culture?  Can you still be viewed as a Christian if you close your door?

How do you appropriately share your resources when there are so many requests?  Does “not sharing” give me the reputation of being selfish?

Last weekend, our Sudan team members joined together in our Torit compound for a wonderful time of sharing on the topic of stewardship!  We loved eating marvellous meals, fellowshipping, worshipping in song, looking at scriptures, sharing our readings, and telling stories of our cross cultural experiences with issues of time, finances, and possessions!  Tough questions, but as one of our newer members stated, “It made us feel normal knowing that the old timers are still pondering how to deal with these!”

Our move from Sudan to Uganda took place last week!

After the team retreat, we spent time with treasured friends in Torit whom we will miss immensely!  Then we packed our personal items into our vehicle and JESUS blessed us with an amazing day (fifteen hours) of travel to Kampala–no flats, border hassles, or people/animal/car issues!

Our little white rental house in Kampala is now “ours”!  Phil made it his by trimming the grass in our tiny yard with his hedge trimmer, while I made it home by organizing the kitchen and serving tea (and food) to our guests!
