Phil and Linda Byler, missionaries in Sudan

MANI = Movement of Africa National Initiatives.

Phil spent most of last week in this modern conference center in Abuja, Nigeria. At times it felt like North America. Even the crisscrossing 10 lane interstates were reminiscent of Orange County, CA. However, of the 650 delegates from 57 different countries only about one fourth were white-skinned. Security was tight with flashing police escorts to our hotels.

MANI 2011 was an inspiring exposure to some major missionary thrusts of the African churches. A few countries such as Nigeria, Ghana, and Ethiopia have shown impressive leadership to craft a nationwide, multi-denominational evangelical mission movement to evangelize their own nation and beyond, even back to Europe and North America. GO NORTH was the battle cry. Onward church of JESUS!
