mary 004We are blessed with wonderful daughters—three biological daughters, one daughter by marriage, and several very special African daughters!  Mary, a South Sudanese youth we met in our very first year in Africa, is one of these.  She is the second of her siblings who finished university in Uganda and is now serving in South Sudan.  Tonight she and her special friend came for the meal and evening with us.  What a delight to hear Reuben and Mary overflow with gratitude to God for their lives in Him, their opportunities to serve others, and the way God is leading them together.

Culturally they have now the approval of the significant family members, the brothers and uncles and parents, so as soon as the house is built, Reuben can write the proper letter of request to Mary’s family.  Then, a date can be set for the introduction where the families will ask each other questions, and then finally a wedding date will be set!  So within a year, we will get an invite to participate in this daughter’s wedding! What a joy!
