Linda and I are enjoying daily readings from Ann Voskamp’s One Thousand Gifts Devotional. She inspires finding the beauty of God’s gifts amidst the daily rubble of life.

From our front porch this Saturday morning I view the beauty of our flowering “trumpet vine” against the backdrop of the all-to-close construction.
Which do I see?
I borrow Ann’s prayer “…. Turn me from seeing burdens to seeking beauty. Cause me to glimpse at the grittiness and gaze on Your glory – because could there be more joy than adoring You more?”
I chose beauty.

Nubian women learn this traditional art of colorful weaving from childhood. Phil and I recently visited this Nubian community which is north of Kampala. We were warmly welcomed into Karim’s home and were fascinated watching Ruth skillfully weaving the mat. She had previously collected the grass, and dyed it.

Phil has just completed 4 days of AIM leadership training, vision casting and fellowship on the shores of Lake Nivasha, Kenya. We call it our annual Rendezvous. Can we as an organization adapt to the radically different Church Planting Movements model presented to us? It is pregnant with potential and has birthed some impressive children with other organizations. Perhaps it is the way forward to achieve Christ Centered Churches Among All Africa Peoples.
